How to Close Empty HTML Elements

In HTML, it is optional to close empty elements.

Allowed:

<meta charset="utf-8">

Also Allowed:

<meta charset="utf-8" />

If you expect XML/XHTML software to access your page, keep the closing slash (/), because it is required in XML and XHTML.
